Hey there…

I’m Kim. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom since my daughter, Emilia (Mia, for short) was born in July of 2020. Truth be told, being a stay-at-home mom was never the plan. I wanted to go back to work as a Utilization Review Nurse after my maternity leave ended, but my employer denied my request to return on a part-time basis.

So… I quit.

Although I have looked back with sadness on what my career would’ve been at this point, I don’t regret my decision to be a stay-at-home mom because I have gained so much more from my time spent with my daughter.

And not having to utilize my brain for anything work related helped tremendously during the months and months and months of broken sleep. I remember taking a trip to Target while my mom watched the baby and not having remembered much of it by the time I got home. Sleep deprivation is no joke.

Motherhood did not come easily for me. It started with a difficult labor and quickly turned into dealing with a baby who was very temperamental, had reflux, and woke many times a night, with the struggles continuing well into the 2nd year.

While my husband and I were in the trenches of parenthood, it felt as though we might never see the light at the end of the tunnel. But luckily, toddlerhood has proven to be the best yet. It’s been amazing to watch the little human we created blossom into a fiery, self-determined, little explorer. And boy oh boy do kids really say the darndest things.

As I grow this blog one sip of a margarita at a time, it’s my hope that it will be a resource to parents regarding all the ins and outs of the fun-filled places to take young children in the Chicagoland area and beyond, as well as host a wide variety of reviews and recommendations for baby/toddler products I’ve found through trial and error that got me through the trenches. In addition, I hope to shine a spotlight on some controversial parenting topics I wish I’d been well-versed on from the start.
