The holidays are here! For anyone who doesn’t know me, Christmas season makes its triumphant return in my household on November 1st.

The tree and decorations emerge from storage and the dreaded time change is made more bearable by the plethora of festive lights accompanying almost every surface.

I do, however, wait to begin Christmas shopping until Black Friday Deals pop up, but I like to get a head start by knowing what items I’ll be watching during those sales.

This article lists my favorite toys for babies and toddlers, all of which are highly-rated and have a proven track record with my daughter. Many of these toys are gender neutral(or have more than one color option) and would make great gifts for both boys and girls.

I left out character toys even though Mia is a big fan of Peppa Pig, Disney’s Cars, Paw Patrol, and Thomas the Train, because not all kids like the same shows/movies.

Below, I have separated the toys into four different categories based on age, followed by my top five gift recommendations for moms.

Moms are notoriously hard to buy for because we are in constant survival mode. We can’t think of things we WANT because we only think of things we NEED/things that our family needs.

But there are a few items I’ve received as a gift or gotten for myself that I believe are universal, if only needing to be slightly tailored to the mom you are intending to buy for.

Moms, you are deserving of gifts this holiday season, too! Don’t forget that.

1. A YETI Mug

This YETI mug has been a life-saver since Mia was born. There have been so many mornings where I’ve made coffee and didn’t even get a first sip until an hour later. If I put the lid on top of this mug immediately following pouring the coffee into it, it stays HOT for at least 3 hours.

2. Sunglasses

This one might be a bit trickier because everyone has their own style preference, but while I have many cheap pairs of sunglasses, I like to have at least one designer pair that I keep on hand. My husband got me the pair of sunglasses I’m wearing in the photo below for my first Mother’s Day.

Fun fact: it’s the same pair of Ray-Bans Dakota Johnson wears in Fifty Shades Freed.

3. Lounge Clothing

Leggings, fuzzy socks, pullovers… I can never have enough.

Regarding the leggings, I recommend finding out her size and preferred brand(Target, Victoria’s Secret, Amazon, Lululemon, etc.) because we can be picky about things like that. Fuzzy socks are typically OS fits all, and almost every clothing store is selling comfy pull-overs right now. Peep the one at Target below.

4. BOOKS

Reading is essentially a staycation for the mind. There’s no better way to escape after a long day than by reading a good book. My current top choices in two categories are the A Court of Thornes and Roses which is a Romantasy series and Verity in the thriller category.

Both are spicy, and if you’re a husband reading this and you don’t know what that means, I guarantee your wife does.

5. Gift Card or Gift Certificate

Gift cards are always a good option IF you know where she likes to shop. My top three choices that are typically a safe bet for any woman are Target, Amazon, and Starbucks.

Gift certificates are more personal and usually come from places like hair salons and nail salons. I don’t recommend choosing just any salon in your local area, make sure you purchase a gift certificate from an establishment she frequents.

The holidays are all sorts of stressful with hosting, searching for new outfits, finding the perfect gift for everyone in your family, and trying to make an appearance at every party.

I hope this list containing my favorite toys for babies and toddlers helps you if you’ve got a little person to shop for, and I hope they enjoy playing with their new toy just as much as much as Mia has!
